  • My Pathomation is a cloud-based digital pathology platform that allows users to store, view, organize, annotate, and share whole slide images (WSIs). It supports all major file formats, including fluorescent and Z-stacked images. My Pathomation also includes access to our AI-marketplace with a Case sharing and AI-plan. 

  • My Pathomation is designed for individual users, educators, researchers, pathologists, and organizations that need secure, scalable image hosting and collaboration features.

  • Yes. The Free plan includes 10 GB of storage and basic functionality.

  • We have different account types available. You can choose the type of account that fits your needs best.

  • Yes. The platform is compatible with all routine WSI file formats. New formats can be added upon request. Check out all available image formats here.

  • Yes. In an organizational plan, you can upload a custom logo that displays across your organization.

  • Yes. In both a personal or an organizational plan, you can configure viewport elements such as overview map, scale bar, rotation, filename, zoom slider, snapshots, and color adjustments.

  • Yes. Users can create, customize, and reuse annotation templates (including fixed-size annotations).

AI & Analytics

  • Yes. AI-powered image analysis through the integrated AI Marketplace.

  • Select a slide → Click the AI button → Choose an algorithm → Confirm → Run.

  • Whole slide or ROI-based algorithms from third-party providers in the AI Marketplace. You can find more information here.

  • AI results are displayed as overlay annotations, which users can filter, recolor, or hide for clearer interpretation.

  • AI usage is billed per analysis using token-based credit.

Slide & data Management

  • You can upload your slide in 3 different ways: 

    • Drag-and-drop upload inside My Pathomation 

    • Upload via the blue upload button 

    • Case: A group of slides that belong to a specific patient diagnosis 

    • Collection: A group of slides that have a common logic or theme, eg a histology type, a conference presentation, a collaborative activity 

    • Slidebox: A curated group of collections, often for teaching or multi-center work

  • A course is a single-page mini site with its own link where a user can publish textbook style content combining text and whole slide images publicly. 

    This feature is available in the Education & Collaboration plan.

Sharing & Collaboration

  • Yes you can! 

    You can share a direct link via: 

    • Simply copying the generated link  

    • QR code 

    • Email 

    • WhatsApp and social platforms

  • There are different settings available to share your content.

    • Unlisted: Only accessible via link 

    • Public: Accessible via public listings 

    • Optional password & expiration controls

  • A new view is recorded each time a shared item is opened for the first time by a user.

Courses & Quizzes

  • Yes, with the “education & collaboration” plan. Courses can include: 

    • Whole Slide Images

    • Collections 

    • Text content 

    • Customizable viewport settings

  • Yes with the “education & collaboration” plan, you can create quizzes.

    Quizzes support multiple question formats, answer tracking, randomization, and reporting.

  • Quizzes can be shared with users that are part of your organization in My Pathomation.

    Courses can be shared broadly, so also externally, via a direct link.

User & Organization Management

  • Groups help segment users  (e.g., MDT meetings, student year groups) and assign permissions and content. 
    Roles include: 

    • Manager 

    • Editor 

    • Member

    • Managers: All rights including billing

    • Editors: Content creation & user management

    • Members: View-only based on content and access permissions granted by an editor or manager

Privacy, Security & GDPR

  • Yes. The platform emphasizes privacy-by-design principles and pseudonymization.

  • Patient data is protected via:

    • Role-based access 

    • Secure sharing options 

    • Label and barcode hiding 

    • Data anonymization (deidentification)

  • Yes. PMA.start includes a built-in anonymization tool for WSI files.

  • You need to anonymize your slides always when slides are used for research, education, or public sharing. 

    Anonymizing is not required in diagnostic or curative collaboration between healthcare professionals. 

Pricing & Subscription

    • Free plan: 10 GB 

    • Paid options: From 25 GB and up (no upper limit)

  • By default, an organization comes with 50 users. More users are available upon request.

  • Yes. You can scale storage and switch plans anytime.
